State Bank of India (SBI) conducts an exam for recruitment to the post of Probationary Officer (PO) for its branches across the country.
The job profile of SBI PO is a little bit different from Bank PO of other banks; the reason is that SBI is a very vast bank and having various types of outfits and dimensions of banking.
SBI PO is exposed to bigger roles and responsibilities as in SBI there is a huge scope of learning in every aspect of banking.
SBI Po job description involves General Banking, Administrative Task, and any other task bestowed by the bank time to time.
SBI POs are trained for accounting, marketing, investment, billing, finance, human resources, forex, agriculture banking, general banking, etc.
In SBI, there is a lot of focus on marketing & cross selling also hence the Probationary Officer is also exposed to such areas of banking. During the probation period, there are frequent training and transfers.
After completion of Probation period Bank P.O. has given post of Assistant Manager there is also a provision of a confirmation test and promotion immediately after two years.

SBI PO 2017 Main Exam Pattern

The online main exam is a total of 3-hour-30-minute duration paper
-
The 3-hour objective-type tests carry 200 marks
-
These tests are from English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.), General Awareness, Marketing & Computers, Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation and Reasoning (High Level)

The descriptive test belongs to English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) will be of 30 minutes with 50 marks

SBI PO Group Discussion & Interview:
The Phase III will carry a total of 50 marks. Group Discussion will be of 20 marks and Interview will be of 30 marks.
As negative marking is applicable for both preliminary and main exams, for every wrong answer marked by candidate, there will be a duduction of 1/4th of the mark allotted to that question as penalty.
